Principal Katie ArkooshWelcome to Walnut Grove Elementary, home of the Eagles. We are a school filled with dedicated, caring teachers who support student learning in everything we do. From our custodians and teachers to our paraeducators and kitchen staff, we are hardworking, caring individuals who enjoy working with students each and every day. It is a privilege to come to Walnut Grove with one another and our students each day.

Our school is a diverse community with many cultures and languages. It is amazing to see how children can be so similar and get along even when there is a language barrier. Students welcoming and supporting one another in their learning is evident in their classrooms, at recess and in the hallways. It really is amazing to see how all students can be flexible in their understanding of one another.

In each of our classrooms you will find evidence of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, something that has become a part of our school culture. We talk about being safe, respectful and responsible and what that looks like all around our school. Our teachers collaborate to come up with common lessons and assessments based on the needs of students. Common strategies around writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading are part of our day-to-day instruction.

Walnut Grove is a positive place to grow and learn. We are continually working on our instructional practices to improve the educational experience for our students.

Go, Eagles!

Sincerely,

Katie Arkoosh
